Face tattoo-afficionado, professional photographer and world’s most infamous bouncer, Sven Marquardt, has given an interview to GQ Magazine. Marquardt answered elaborately on questions ranging from subjects such as East Berlin at the time of the Wall, the fetish parties at Ostgut (Berghain’s predecessor), why he only wears black and more.

Getting into Berghain is never an easy task. Spending a night or day inside the hallowed super club in Berlin has become somewhat of a right of passage for many Techno aficionados, but getting past the bouncers is a necessary step to enjoying the experience.

Earlier this month, Marquardt successfully sued the Swedish company Beware Of Ninja for €15,000 after they used his likeness without consent in their Berghain-inspired card game, Bergnein. What a name. Even the pronunciation sounds too cool for me to say (Berg-HINE). Berghain is a nightclub well known not only for it’s techno, but also it’s strict door policy enforced by their intimidating bouncers (and also the chance to see a naked bum or five, but let’s not get our hopes up.) Berghain has a Funktion-One sound system on its main dance floor which, when it was installed in 2004, was one of the company's largest club installs. At its launch, the sound system comprised four Funktion-One Dance Stacks (consisting of a DS210, a DS215 and three F218), a Double Infrahorn (consisting of two Infrabass, one Doublehorn Extension) and two Resolution 2 for monitoring .
